
French sports minister Roxana Maracineanu told Eurosport Wednesday that “it would not be the end of the world” if the Tour de France is cancelled this year.
Sorry, but we just can’t relate to a point of view like this. It damn well WOULD be the end of the world if the TdF is cancelled.
We’ve already missed the classics and monuments this spring (though they’ll hopefully take place this autumn) and missing the greatest race of the year would make 2020 even more unthinkably miserable.
Ok… obviously we need to do what is best for public health. But damn, a year with no Tour would be brutal.
Here’s to hoping we’ll have the French Grand Tour this August and September.
